Zaz, a Ring-Tailed Lemur, lives in Madagascar, off the coast of Africa. "Zaz" is short for "Zaza", which means "child" in Malagasy, the native tongue of Madagascar.

Lemurs are super social creatures. They spend their mornings sun bathing in yoga positions and their afternoons gathering fruit and leaves. Young lemurs play together in big groups, while one or two mama lemurs look on. It's like primate daycare.

Occasionally, when boy lemurs get angry and competitive they'll start stink fights, rubbing the smell from their wrists onto their tails and waving them in other lemurs' faces. That's when time out happens.

26 is Zaz's favorite number. There are 26 lemurs in his tribe and 26 black and white stripes on his tail.

The reason lemurs can only be found in Madagascar is because they need untouched forest to live in. That is, forest that hasn't been touched by humans and it's almost impossible to find. Madagascar is one of the last places in the world where millions of rare plants and animals still thrive. Let's help to keep it that way!
