Rasa is a Slender-Horned Gazelle. She lives in the Saharan desert. Her cream and white colored coat helps her hide from predators, providing camouflage. It also keeps her cool, as it absorbs much less light and heat than darker colors would.

Still, she naps during the hottest parts of the day and comes out to eat late at night and early in the morning. Whatever water exists in the desert is taken by more aggressive species and by humans, so Rasa is used to getting water from her food and from licking dew off of the leaves. The name "Rasa" is an Afghan name that means "dew".

Gazelles are fast and alert. When they sense danger they give a snort and flick their tails but there's only so much danger that they can save themselves from.

Slender-Horned Gazelles can still be found in parts of Algeria, Egypt, Libya and Sudan but used to cover much more territory. They have been hunted for sport, captured for their horns, and are losing much of their habitat to human warfare. If we stop fighting each other, we can begin fighting to preserve a beautiful animal who needs our help.
